At the November 13 Intersect meeting, more than 60 of us (a record!) gathered to talk about website and intranet content strategy. There are many challenges and intricacies around getting a content strategy in place, but in the long run it sure can make the day-to-day work of IT and communications staff easier. Plus there is great benefit in the content creators throughout the organization knowing their freedoms and boundaries.
We had members from two organizations facilitate our discussion:
- Larry Timmerman and Yvonne Klinnert of Washington County – “Making a Better Website” presentation
- Jed Becher of MNDNR

More resources (thanks to Lucinda Plaisance at the Metropolitan Council):
- Content Strategy Meetup – based in Minneapolis. Meets the third Tuesday of every month.
- Content Strategy group on LinkedIn – “Professional networking group for content strategists and user experience design professionals specializing in the practice of content strategy, or those who are interested in learning more about content strategy or developing/honing content strategy expertise.”
- Content Wrangler Community on LinkedIn – “For those who value content as a business asset worthy of being effectively managed.”
Thanks again to Drew VanKrevelen and the Minnesota Lottery for hosting, to our facilitators, and to everyone who participated. It was an excellent meeting.
Mark your calendars for our next meeting on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 from 2:00-4:00pm. See you then.
